Analysis
December the 3rd Press Release

ANALYSIS

Image analysis of the materials edited by ASPH (State Authority for Disabled People) dedicated to the International Day for Solidarity with the Disabled People (December the 3rd)

The wallpaper "CONCERT-SHOW"
Spelling error at the bottom of the page: "sonoriXare".
The combination of white writing font and white and gray background makes reading almost impossible.
The predominant color of the wallpaper (brown) is low-impact and also kind of sad; it is also uniform and static.
The promoted event is not evident/emphasized (the size of the text is too small).
The photo (a dead/dying flower) is not suggestive/representative for the significance of December the 3rd.
The absence of a motto or a slogan that promotes the event or the day its-self is acutely felt throughout the wallpaper. The photo looses the message due to its covering with text (which is difficult to read). Also the text is too large and crammed-the poster is too crowded.

The wallpaper "EXPOSITION":
The period of the exhibition/exposition is missing.
The significance of the background picture is rather pessimistic (the color and the subject).

The calendar-wallpaper "December the 3rd"
No message.
+the same comments about the color, composition and subject of the photo (it's the same photo).

The "December the 3rd" pin/badge
"December the 3rd" What?
What is SSPH? (Acronyms are usually accompanied by their explanation or they are used with no explanation only for wide notoriety brands-not the case with SSPH!).
The size is quite inappropriate, too small.
The message is totally absent!!!

CONCLUSIONS:
There is no graphic element or idea that defines December the 3rd - the International Day for Solidarity with the Disabled.
The colors on the wallpaper/pin (badge)/calendar are almost similar but not identical. We hope this was intentional (although we do not see why!).
The brown color: "is the Earth's color. Gives the impression of stability, eliminating insecurity. Still, it is connected with the idea of bottled-up emotion, fear, alienation from the outside world and also a narrow mind. This is often caused by lack of self-esteem". (accessed at http://harvestfields.tripod.com/colours.htm). Beware at the significance!
What colors should I see? What kind of editing elements (fonts, characters) are more appropriate? These are the basic questions that should be asked before you create the graphic design.
The absence of the AWARENESS element!

Proposals:

  • use warmer/milder colors, more expressive/positive, with higher impact and more (appropriate) meaning;
  • use an appropriate message for the promoted event;
  • collaborate with a specialized agency, experienced in image campaigns or consult at least some experts.
