ONPHR - THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF DISABLED PEOPLE IN ROMANIA
Full member of the Disabled People's International.
The National Organization of Disabled Persons in Romania militates for the full social integration of disabled people and against any form of discrimination in the social, professional, political, cultural, family of sexual life.


The National Union of HIV/AIDS Affected/Infected People Organizations (UNOPA) is a non-governmental federation, non-profit, constituting of 18 HIV/AIDS infected/ affected associations and foundations (from Bucharest and 12 other counties- Giurgiu, Sibiu, Constanta, Caras-Severin, Bacau, Suceava, Iasi, Neamt, Vaslui, Botosani, Galati, Dolj), the vast majority being associations of parents with HIV/AIDS infected children. The federation was funded/created in June 2000 with the mission to organize and sustain practical actions for the promotion and observation of the rights of HIV/AIDS infected or affected people in Romania, in accordance with the principles and rights stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in the International Convention of Children's Rights.


The Association for Physically Disabled Children's support-Romania
(ASCHF-R)

Goal: supporting the treatment, rehabilitation, education and instruction of physically disabled children and young people, as well as improving the general quality of their life.
Objectives:

  • Informing the family and the society about the needs and potential of the disabled child in order to change their attitude and mentality;
  • Improving the mobility of the disabled child in order to facilitate the social integration;
  • Lobby for the creation of equal chances/opportunities regarding the participation and full realization/development of the disabled child in the social life;
  • Developing projects and activities involving the child and his/her family in order to change the mentality;
  • The consolidation and development of the organization.


    The Organization for Children and Adults with Special Needs TREBUIE!
    Full member of the Disabled People's International.
    TREBUIE Organization engages to:
  • Promote the strengthening of the family as a natural environment for children and adults with special needs;
  • Plead and promote the observation of the rights of children with special needs according with the international conventions ratified by Romania and to develop programmes for the protection of the person with special needs;
  • Sustain the state's efforts for the creation of proper conditions for the development and protection of children and adults with special needs, contributing to realization of these conditions through its programmes and activities;
  • Gather and disseminate information regarding the person with special needs, in order to raise the awareness and increase the involvement of the community into solving this problem;
  • Cooperate with authorities, NGO's and other partners working for the observation of the rights of children and adults with special needs;
  • Act for the development of the organization and informing, sensibilizating and involving its members in accomplishing the goals of the organization;
  • Initiate projects in collaboration with the National Education Ministry aiming to educate and rehabilitate the child with mental disabilities.


    The Center for The Information and Education of Employees (CIES)
    The Center for The Information and Education of Employees is a non-profit foundation, patronata?? by two Swedish foundations, aiming to offer on a regular basis, through a free education, based on democratic principles, on solidarity: support and collaboration in educating the civic spirit about the values of worker movements, as well as creating proper conditions for the involvement and free choice in education and in culturalization for everybody. The foundation is intended to provide information, based on its own principles about ideas for vocational or educational programmes. The foundation aims to:
  • fight for a better life, from a material as well as an intellectual point of view;
  • cultivate the will/wish for change and to actively promote dialogue as a source for learning. The base of the foundation's activity is to create study-centers, because the best results are obtained by the small groups, constituted voluntarily and which, due to their common interest, come together for long periods of time in order to obtain new knowledge. The foundation aims to offer free access to information to any person, regardless of age, sex, origin or (dis) ability, developing this way his/her knowledge as well as his/her creativity, but mostly the possibility to feel he/she can do something he/she enjoys.
    The guiding idea/motto of the foundation is:
    ACTION, NOT TALKING!

    CNCD
    The National Council Against Discrimination, functions as a specialized entity of the central public administration, having juridical personality, subordinated to the Government.
    The Council has the role of implementing the equity principle amongst citizens, specified in the Romanian Constitution, in the intern valid legislation and in the international agreements Romania is taking part. In engaging his attributions, the Council acts independently, without being restricted or influenced by other public institutions or authorities.
    The Council engages the following attributions:
  • Proposes actions or special measures protecting the people and the marginalised categories which are not on the same level reporting to the majority of the citizens due to their social origin or disability, or confronting with a rejecting attitude and segregation when these are not having the opportunity of equal chances.
  • Monitoring legislation projects regarding rights guaranties and freedom, in conditions of equity and nondiscrimination.
  • Cooperates with the competent public authorities in order to harmonize intern legislation with the international standards in discrimination.
  • Cooperates with the public authorities, juridical and physical persons, to assure the prevention, penalization and elimination of all types of discrimination.
  • Monitors the implementation and the following the rules by the public authorities, juridical and physical persons, of the standard decisions regarding prevention, penalization and elimination of all types of discrimination.
  • Receives petitions and complains regarding breaking the standard decisions regarding the equity and nondiscrimination principle, from physical persons, NGOs aiming to protect human rights, other juridical persons, public institutions, analyzes, adopts the appropriate measures and communicates the answer respecting the law deadline.
  • Cooperates with the NGOs aiming to protect human rights.
  • Generates studies and researches regarding equity and nondiscrimination principle, which are presented to the Government and publicize them.
  • Cooperates with similar organizations and with the NGOs working in the field of human rights, from other states, as well as with international organizations.
