SUMULEU CIUC/EMPOWERMENT
In November 2002, Mr. Traian Stanciu and Mr. Octav Popescu represented the Association Partners in Development - Romania, at the lobby training in Miercurea Ciuc, part of a ONPHR project aimed at empowering the disabled persons.
The project aimed to bring about a substantial improvement of the Romanian society's perception about the disability issue, by using the un-charted forces that lie un-used in the middle of the most vulnerable group of disabled people: young people and women.
Main objectives:
Creating a national network of lobbyists specialized on the disability issues;
Drafting a local campaign for raising awareness on specific problems;
Organizing training sessions for: independent living, self-advocacy and lobby.
We emphasize that the APDR representatives did not came back empty-handed from this action, but with two computers donated by ONPHR as contest prizes, for the improvement/development of the logistic and communicational basis of or organization.
